Policy Updates

<p>This report was commissioned by The Greens / European Free Alliance in the European Parliament and produced by shecco. It provides insight in the ongoing evolutions, in particular it includes details on the retail sector.</p>

<p>In 2012 it was decided to outsource some of the activities. The Orgalime partnership received the order for collecting and assembling the overall European developments.</p>

<p>On 15 October 2016 the amendment that sets the dates for the phasing down hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), used in air conditioning and refrigeration was adopted by the 28^th Meeting of the Parties to the 1987 Montreal Protocol.</p>

<p>The latest update of this report has been just published. It provides for some global insights that may prove relevant and useful in a number of the product areas covered by Eurovent. Of note is that IEA considers that China is now driving global energy efficiency progress and is making a significant mark on global energy markets.</p>

<p>The ATMOsphere review panel has now officially issued this call that runs until 15 November 2017. The case studies should focus on or be applicable to the Japanese market.</p>

<p>The INTAS aims to support support Market Surveillance Authorities (MSAs) to deliver compliance for large products, in particular large industrial fans and transformers and to provide industry how it can be sure it is complying with Ecodesign legislation.</p>

<p>The revised standard submitted to WTO on 5 September 2016 now includes reference to both ANSI/AHRI and ISO standards/testing methods.</p>

<p>In 2017 the International conference on Energy Efficiency in Domestic Appliances and Lighting (EEDAL) will take place for the first time outside Europe. Manufacturers who have a particular interest for the American market could make use of this conference to address a mixed public that also includes participants from other areas in the world.</p>

<p>The application of the 2015/1535/EU (previously Directive 98/34/EC Directive) has also been extended to new standardisation work undertaken by National Standard Bodies (AENOR, AFNOR, DIN, UNI…) at national level. These notifications are registered centrally by the CEN Management Centre and a "Monthly Notifications Register" is circulated in English to the CEN Members and the European Commission. The National Standard Body generally provides the relevant associations with a copy of these updates.</p>

<p>The revised standard submitted to WTO on 5 September 2016 is identical to the one submitted in January 2016 and solely refers to ANSI/AHRI standards/testing methods.</p>

<p>On 8 July 2015 these regulations were published. The first tier for Ecodesign applies from 1 July 2016, the second on 1 July 2018 and the third on 1 July 2019. The transitional methods and a revised tool to calculate SEPR for condensing units have been made available.</p>

<p>The “Blue Guide” is intended to contribute to a better understanding of EU product rules and to their more uniform and coherent application the single market. It provides guidance to all parties involved. In general it is understood that industry is aware of the contents of the “blue guide”!</p>
