<p>On 13 October, the European Commission provided an analysis of the recent sharp increase in energy prices and announced in a communication; the publishing of a Factsheet Toolbox for action and support that contains short and medium-term measures that can be implemented by the EU Member States to address the situation.</p>

<p>The European Commission has released the 2021 pocketbook consisting of data up to the year 2020. Whereas the first pocketbooks elaborated mainly on energy figures, the 2021 version also covers socio-economic indicators and the impact of the energy sector on the environment. The International Energy Agency has released on 13 October its annual World Energy Outlook in time for the COP26 meetings.</p>

<p>The LIFE sub-programme Clean Energy Transition has issued a call for proposals that can qualify for grants. Three topics may be of interest to the HVACR industry. Around 30 partners are looking for collaboration to introduce a proposal by 12 January 2022. </p>

<p>In 1991 Eurovent, together with the American, Canadian and Japanese associations founded ICARHMA, the International Council of Air-Conditioning, Refrigeration, and Heating Manufacturers Associations. Meanwhile the membership has increased to eleven members covering many parts of the world. ICARHMA allows the association to discuss global issues related to energy and environmental related issues.</p>

<p>The Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC) was set up as a voluntary partnership in 2015 during the 21st Conference of Parties (COP21). It involves 30+ countries and 100+ members with different backgrounds and fits within the United Nations Environment Programme. The aim is to work towards a zero-emission, efficient, and resilient buildings and construction sector.</p>

The release of the final report on BACS is expected soon. A Consultation Forum meeting to present the study has been announced for 15 November without working documents.

The HLCF is meant to co-create (and monitor) the green, digital and resilient transition pathways for the EU construction industry ecosystem. It fits within the context of the Communication on ‘A Renovation Wave for Europe’. The HLCF will interact with a number of stakeholders’ platforms described in Renovation Wave and prepare a future initiative on a sustainable built environment.
