<p>Nuremberg, Paris, 16 October 2018. Ready for the Chillventa 2018 in Nuremberg, Germany, our independent subunit Eurovent Certita Certification has introduced a new Eurovent Certified Performance (ECP) programme for liquid-to-liquid plate heat exchangers.</p>

<p>FRONT is a demonstration funded under LIFE, the EU’s financial instrument supporting environmental, nature conservation and climate action projects. It is often referred to as LIFE FRONT. The project runs until 2020 and aims to remove barriers posed by standards for flammable refrigerants and increase the availability of suitable alternatives. The first report has just been published.</p>

<p>The European Commission has released the 2018 pocketbook with data up to 2016. Whereas the first pocketbooks elaborated mainly on energy figures, the 2018 version also covers socio-economic indicators and the impact of the energy sector on the environment.</p>

<p>The first prototype of EPREL has been analysed and tested by Sandrine Marinhas (Eurovent Certita Certification) and Charlotte van de Water (Eurovent Member Association Agoria) while exchanging information with Oscar Miralles, one of the Commission Policy Officers dealing with the practical implementation of EPREL. Charlotte van de Water has composed an article that provides a concrete insight into the procedures. This is referred to in the text below.</p>

<p>The draft standard ISO 22712 'Refrigerating systems and heat pumps - Competence of Personnel' has been submitted for voting on 3 September 2018. The voting terminates on 26 November 2018. The input to the national standardisation bodies such as AFNOR, DIN, UNI, etc. are likely to be requested by around mid-October.</p>

<p>The European Commission's Joint Research Centre has made the ‘JRC Integrated Database of the European Energy System’ (JRC-IDEES) available. It offers a consistent set of disaggregated energy-economy-environment historical time series for all 28 EU Member States from 2000 to 2015 and will be updated regularly.</p>

<p>In August 2018, the European Commission has released the updated LVD guidelines to help with the common application of the Directive. The guide, like Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ), has no weight in law but deals with many practical issues that are of interest to manufacturers and stakeholders. </p>

<p>The revised Energy Performance of Buildings Directive 2018/884 introduces a "Smart Readiness Indicator". It will measure the buildings' capacity to use new technologies and electronic systems to adapt to the needs of the consumer, optimise its operation and interact with the grid. The European Commission has asked a consortium to develop the SRI. The report by the consortium was published at the end of August 2018. The European Commission will launch a new study on the practical implementation of the SRI by the end of 2018.</p>

<p>The prototype of EPREL that has become available on 28 August relates to eight product groups that are not within the sphere of Eurovent. It is expected that the prototypes for professional refrigerated storage cabinets, residential ventilation, air-conditioners, space and water heaters including heat pumps will become available soon.</p>
