<p>On a monthly basis, the Eurovent Team compiles a global overview of the latest developments concerning new standardisation activities and technical regulations of relevance for the HVACR industry. Our Notifications allow members to be prepare for developments that can have an impact on them and their products.</p>

<p>The European Environment Agency has published its <a href="https://www.eea.europa.eu/publications/european-union-greenhouse-gas-inventory-2018" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Annual European Union greenhouse gas inventory 1990-2016 and inventory report 2018</a>. The report shows a 0.6% decrease of greenhouse gases emissions (-27 million tonnes CO2 equivalent) between 2015 and 2016 for a total of 4,300 million tonnes CO2 equivalent. Since 1990, the EU has reduced its net GHG emissions by 24% (-1,356 million tonnes CO2 equivalents), surpassing its 20% reduction target by 2020.</p>

<p>The INTAS project has started in March 2016 and, by late 2018, should provide policy options that could support European Market Surveillances Authorities (MSAs) when checking compliance with Ecodesign requirements for large industrial products, specifically transformers and fans.</p>

<p>REHVA and Eurovent have released their guidebook on heat recovery ventilation. It includes the latest ventilation technology and knowledge about the ventilation system performance, intended to be used by HVAC designers, consultants, contractors, and other practitioners. This first joint guidebook of REHVA and Eurovent is part of an increasing cooperation between the two associations, with more publications and joint initiatives to follow.</p>

<p>On 29 May 2018, our Executive Director Morten Schmelzer has participated in the 14th General Assembly of the Swiss industry association and Eurovent member ProKlima in Lucerne. All Eurovent member companies and associations are cordially invited to their upcoming “Kadertag der Gebäudetechnik” (Day of Building Technology), which takes place on 6 November 2018 in Baden.</p>

<p>This webinar focussed on eDelivery and its specifications for use within EPREL. The timing to get EPREL operational by 1 November 2018 is becoming tight. No new information about the data exchange with EPREL was presented.</p>

<p>On 16 May 2018, the European Commission provided the draft minutes of three Consultation Forum meetings (lighting, washing machines, dishwashers) held in December 2017. Among the relevant abstracts are enclosed: General and the discussion on material efficiency. Of note too is the updated FAQ on professional refrigeration.</p>

<p>As the industry should be able to enter data into the EPREL database from 1 November 2018 onwards, the industry is asking the Commission to focus on getting the database operational on time. This should be done rather than developing an Implementing Act before the database is operational. </p>

<p>In advance of the second Ad-Hoc Working Group (AHWG2) meeting to be held in the format of a webinar on 29 and 30 May 2018, the second criteria proposals have been published on the JRC Product Bureau website.</p>

<p>On 17 January 2018, the European Parliament has adopted a set of amendments regarding the revision of the EED. Besides the overall objectives, the European Parliament proposed to lower the Primary Energy Factor (PEF), which is at 2,5 today. It appears like an agreement would be found to move to 2,3. The consequences are not yet fully understood.</p>

<p>The text of the revised EPBD has been adopted by the European Parliament on 17 April and by the Council on 14 May 2018. The publication in the Official Journal of the European Union will be forthcoming. The revised EPBD will enter into force 20 days after publication and the transition period for the Member States to implement the revised EPBD is 20 months.</p>
