<p>The European Commission published the new ‘Blue Guide on the implementation of the product rules 2022’. It provides a further understanding of EU product rules.</p>

<p>On 14 July, the European Parliament and Council reached an agreement on the 2030 Digital Decade Policy Programme, presented by the Commission in September 2021.</p>

<p>Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) is a common EU scheme for rating the smart readiness of buildings. Cooling is one of the nine technical domains addressed by the SRI.</p>

<p>Mr. Alan Foster, Senior Research Fellow for the Heating and Cooling Group at the London South Bank University, is the new chairman of the IIR Sub-Commission D1 – Display Cabinets. He succeeds Mr. Seitz Van Der Sluis. Inputs are welcomed on the sub-commission’s new activities.</p>

After quite a substantial delay, the European Commission, and their contracted consultants from Trinomics, Oeko-Institut, and DTU, finalised and officially published the ‘Policy support for heating and cooling decarbonisation’ study.

Last week, the energy ministers adopted the Council’s negotiating position on the Renewable Energy Directive based on the compromise texts prepared by the French Presidency.

The revision fits within the current Ecodesign Framework Directive 2009/125, and it looks to update the environmental data sets for the EcoReport Tool. It also considers the possibility to include material efficiency aspects and of environmental footprint/ecological profile aspects.
